PRESIDENT HICHILEMA COMMISSIONS KAFULAFUTA DAM

President Hakainde Hichilema has commissioned the Kafulafuta Dam in Masaiti District, during his tour of the Copperbelt.
This project will benefit over 17,000 people in Ndola, Luanshya, Masaiti, and Mpongwe by providing access to clean and safe water.
Speaking during the commissioning of Kafulafuta Dam President Hichilema highlighted that the Dam will benefit numerous people on the Copperbelt, and further indicated that his government has instructed the relevant ministry to explore its potential use for irrigation purposes.
The President acknowledged the role of traditional leaders in allowing the land to be used for the dam’s construction and emphasized the need for fair compensation and benefits for local communities, including the Lamba people.
He urged residents to utilize the water resource wisely for the benefit of future generations.
President Hichilema also encouraged citizens without National Registration Cards (NRCs) to obtain them, enabling access to various opportunities, including employment.
He highlighted the government’s commitment to ensuring every citizen reaps the rewards of development initiatives, including the cash-for-work program, which will support those settling in designated areas.
The President concluded by expressing confidence that with collective effort, Zambia can achieve a brighter future for all its citizens.
